Up there on the slope, you will find a small farmhouse!
The farmhouse "Coste Rouge" overhangs the Castle of Caïx - the summer residence of the Queen of Denmark. Its name comes from the small patch of land: undoubtedly the wine growers called it so because of the colour of the ground and the exceptional situation of the place.
Located on the edge of the hill, the place invites to serenity. The eye, where ever you look, meets harmonious landscapes and beautiful colours. In the bottom of the valley, the generous vines turn green on the shaded banks of Lot, a majestic river with quiet flow. In the evening, hot air climbes the slopes of the hill and prolongs this magic moment with magnificent scents. One then hears familiar noises that one believed hidden in the bottom of our memory, those of ancestral practices and old memories: bells resound, children start singing, the tower in Luzech is illuminated.
You are in the department of the Lot, in the middle of Quercy. Cahors, the prefecture of the department, is only about 25 kilometres away. Sometimes, at night you can see a gleam of the town in the east over the hills. "Coste Rouge" is located a few kilometres from Luzech, a small town of 1100 inhabitants situated on the isthmus of the river. The climate in the department is exceptionally sunny and undoubtedly explains the high quality of Cahor wines.
All here invites to the pleasures of the table: we are in the heart of south-west France and culinary art is sublime. It is said that people here live longer than elsewhere because of the magic cooking. You will be able to make your own opinion on this subject...
However, you need not do French cooking at home! Small restaurants offer a wide range of savoury menues as the gastromes would express themselves!.
The range of excursions are innumerable! Between two meals, don`t be lazy and give up excursions! Discover the richness of the subsoil - the children adore that - and descend some of the oldest caves of the world - Pech-Merle, Bellevue, etc. You can move round in the caves of Lascaux. It is terribly funny!
You can also discover the famous pit of Padirac and sail abt. 80 m under ground, or visit Rocamadour, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie or other villages dominating the valley of the Lot.
You can also choose to do "nothing": water sports, bathing, pedal boats, walking tours. mountain biking, paragliding! These are some of the activities which are offered to you near Coste Rouge.
Comfort in the house is optimal: modern kitchen (washing machine, electric cooker with ceramic plate, microwave oven), living room with a sofa bed and a wood stove. Southern terrace which opens to the principal bedroom. Two bedrooms in the mezzanine (each one equipped with 2 simple beds and 2 extra bed) and vast bathroom with shower.
The size of the house - without the terrace - exceeds 100 m². The most spectacular aspect of the farmhouse lies without any doubt in its site: in the medium of a wood of oaks, enjoying from an impregnable point of view and at the edge of one hectare vines which it is necessary to observe at sunset. The romance is waiting for you!
The period of hiring extends from Saturday (14h00) until the following Saturday (12h00). Consumption of telephone, electricity and water to be paid after each period of hiring. 2 mountain bikes (for adults) are available for guest's use.
